
| Police, Red Cross evacuate 48 bus accident victims in Moyo |

A bus belonging to Zawadi Bus Company overturned on the 7th February 2012 along Moyo-Adjumani road killing instantly one person and injuring 48 people with 32 in critical condition.The accident occurred at 7:00 am when the bus was heading to Kampala. The accident was caused by break failure about 20km away from Moyo town.
The bus aboard with 67 passengers failed to negotiate a sharp corner when the brakes failed ultimately rolling several times in a gully alongside the road. The dead person is said to be a petty trader in Kampala City.
Meanwhile the several injured were evacuated by a joint team comprising of Red Cross volunteers, Police and CEFORD-a partner NGO.
Out of the 48 seriously injured, by the time of compiling this report, 03 were in intensive care, meanwhile 02 are to be amputated later. |
