Overall goal
To improve the health status of the vulnerable and affected communities by reducing the morbidity and mortality arising from diseases and health emergencies
Strategies:
- Building community capacity to manage common health emergencies and diseases and enhance road and water transport safety
- Mobilize communities for donation of adequate and safe blood
- Mitigation of the spread of HIV/Aids and TB through prevention, access to treatment, care and support of infected and affected persons
- Increasing social mobilization and access to health services to reduce morbidity from malaria, immunizable diseases and other common diseases in the most affected communities
- Improving access to safe and adequate water and improved sanitation at household and community levels in targeted areas
- Increase awareness and improve access to reproductive health services in targeted communities

Key activities:
- Review and update first aid curriculum and training manual
- Develop, produce and distribute/conduct Information Education and Communication campaigns
- Follow up trainers in first aid to monitor skills utilization
- Produce equipment and essential products for first aid
- Establish first aid action teams at the community level
- Scale up activities in first aid casualty response
- Conduct regular refreshers training for recipients and instructors of basic first aid skills
- Roll out road safety to other branches located on busy highways
- Paint on regular basic pedestrian crossings
- Conduct Information Education and Communication campaigns on road and water transport safety
- Strengthen capacity at all levels to respond to public health emergencies
- Scale up blood donor education and mobilization
- Form and strengthen donor clubs and follow up donors to encourage them to join
- Provide pre and post blood donation counseling services
- Training and skills development for volunteers in donor mobilization, Counseling and data management
- Scale up motivation mechanisms for blood donors
- Strengthen partnerships with UBTS, MoH and other key actors
- Develop a mechanism for monitoring access to blood and blood products.
- Scale up sensitization and anti-stigma campaigns for HIV and AIDS
- Prevention, access to treatment, care and support in communities
- Scale up sensitization campaigns for TB prevention and access to treatment
- Develop referral networks with other service agencies for HIV/AIDS
- Enhance coping mechanisms for orphans and vulnerable children to mitigate impact of AIDS
- Provide comprehensive Home Based Care services to the most affected people living with HIV and Aids
- Hold awareness campaigns on malaria control and treatment
- Promote use of insecticide treated nets and other preventive technologies
- Roll out campaigns to sensitize and mobilize communities for immunization
- Identify communities with acute water needs
- Increase community awareness on safe water and sanitation practices
- Partner with communities to provide SWS in target areas
- Increase access to SWS in target areas
- Support rehabilitation of and maintenance of existing non-functional SWS in target areas
- Improve community management of hygiene
- Improve awareness and access to reproductive services through the promotion of community friendly reproductive services
- Enhance capacity of people in branches to provide reproductive health services
