
On February 21st 2023, Uganda Red Cross Society distributed Menstrual Hygiene Management Kits to 143 girls and 7 girls at Rubondo Community Secondary School in Nakivale refugee settlement, Isingiro District. The kits comprised of a bucket, washing and bathing soap, kitenge ( A cloth to cover the sanitary pads and knickers once put under the sun) 1 meter of a rope for hanging the reusable sanitary pads and knickers , sanitary pads, nickers.
This was with funding from European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (EU ECHO) through a consortium of partners; International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC, Netherlands Red Cross and Austrian Red Cross.
Uganda Red Cross Society is implementing a couple of activities in Rubondo village, Isingiro District among which include; Emergency Latrine construction, Hygiene, Sanitation, Health promotion among the Refugees of Nakivale refugee settlement and host communities.
These are through our new program, the ECHO - PPP (Pilot Programmatic Partnership) Project, a collaboration between EU-ECHO & International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – IFRC The PPP Pilotic Programmatic project is Implemented in 25 countries worldwide; 12 of them in Africa with Uganda as one of them.

PPP comes with a special a focus on 04 Pillars; 1. Anticipatory Disaster Risk Management 2. Epidemics and Pandemic Preparedness (Health) 3. People on the Move (Refugees) 4. Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) - Multipurpose CASH for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
