Uganda Red Cross Society, Swedish Red Cross & VI Agroforestry have entered a 3 year partnership to deliver on an innovative project involving WASH, sustainable agricultural methods and agroforestry extension services for  host and refugees families in Parolinya Refugee Settlement, Moyo. The Project for resilience and empowerment of refugees and their host communities in partnership (PREP) project anticipates to build a critical mass of trainers to reach out with alternative options for WASH, support start up income generating activities, increase resilience of the beneficiaries to household water constraints, within refugees’ settlements and host communities, and deliver on adoption of Sustainable Agriculture and Land Management practices. Uganda Red Cross Society is looking for a skilled Partnership and Advocacy Influencing Officer to support this innovative project and ensure that it is felt at local and national level.

Job Purpose:

Provides national level project dissemination at URCS and with partners, including Refugee and Host Communities as a step to identify and nurture such relations focusing primarily on funding, program development and communications.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Understand URCS partnership needs and opportunities based on the annual plan
  • Together with the foundation team, lead the development and implementation of the annual partnership strategy including:
  • Assisting the foundation’s team with ongoing partnership initiatives
  • Developing a general funders and other potential partners landscape
  • Generating leads and opening conversations with key contacts
  • Representing the Project in meetings and events at regional and national levels
  • Searching RFP´s and open requests options
  • Creating the proposals and presentations to enable partnership opportunities
  • Following-up on conversations and processes
  • Identifying best practices and incorporating new ideas for partnership building
  • Contributing to the URCS public relations efforts



Education Qualifications
  1. minimum of an undergraduate degree in humanities. 
Working  Experience
  1. Familiarity with Grand Bargain and Localisation Agenda at Global and National Level
  2. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated professional experience in partnership, advocacy and influencing.
  3. Familiarity with working in inter-institutional Partnerships particularly those linked to refugee and host communities
  4. Strong presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to elaborate partnership projects and grant proposals 
Core Competencies and knowledge 
  1. Strong computer skills especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
  2. Must possess an ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines, and work well with others in a fast-paced environment. 
  3. Should be able to schedule, organize and prioritize own work with limited supervision 
  4. Capacity to effectively interact with a multiplicity of stakeholders including senior leaders.
  5. Innovation and strategic thinking are highly valued. Strategy consulting background or experience in an innovative environment are a plus. 
  6. Ability to look to the future, identifying challenges and opportunities, and participate in strategy formulation and implementation;
  7. Working flexible hours to engage partners effectively
